Schulstrasse 16 | Frankfurt (O.)

The Schulstrasse 16 project in Frankfurt (Oder) was designed taking into account its special potential in the city center and near the river and its position in the residential area of Schulstrasse / Karl-Ritter-Platz / Karl-Marx-Strasse. The building represents the first building block of this complex and there is an opportunity to reposition the square in the foothills of Lennépark in accordance with its urban design. The surrounding area is characterized by buildings of industrial construction, but also by listed buildings.

The prefabricated building, designed as a central aisle house, has seven one-room apartments on four full floors. This structure will generally be used and converted into six one-room apartments, some of which are barrier-free and will be partially furnished. A symmetrically designed massive loggia zone will be added to the street. Since the adjacent buildings in this block are mostly 5 storeys high, there is an extension in timber frame construction with two spacious 4 or 5 room apartments.

The fundamental idea behind the facade concept is to break up the existing prefabricated concrete slab appearance and transform the complex in such a way that, after renovation, it gives the impression of a new building with a classic urban feel. The building will have a classic division consisting of a base, facade, and penthouse. The base and facade elements will be finished with brick slips, while the penthouse will have a plaster facade in a color that complements them.
